I. Definition
Hyperhydration, also known as water poisoning, or water retention is the symptoms of water retention, abdominal bloating, breast tenderness, and weight gain and a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions causing abnormal balance of electrolytes in the body due to high levels of estrogen during menstrual cycle for women with endometriosis.

II. How water retention effects women with endometriosis
1. Water retention
Aldosterone produced by the outer-section of of the adrenal cortex in the adrenal gland that helps the tubules of the kidneys to retain sodium and water. High levels of aldosterone causes interferes with the normal process causing water retention during menstrual cycle.

Edema is observable swelling from fluid accumulation in body tissues caused by low level of potassium which is necessary to interact with levels of sodium in the body resulting in water retention in the feet and leg.

3. Bloating
Bloating in endometriosis may be caused by imbalance of the thyroid function an low levels of potassium in the body due to ability of digestive system. Low levels of thyroid or hypothyroidism and potassium increases the risk of hyperhydration resulting in bloating.

4. Breast tenderness
Breast tenderness is caused by high levels of prolactin as resulting of deficiency of dopamine.
